As a state-wide alliance of health and human service professionals concerned with perinatal health issues from preconception through early childhood and the only multi-disciplinary perinatal health organization in New York, NYSPA advocates for optimal perinatal care and parenting and promotes education and research, striving to influence state priorities and encourage a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary approach to maternal and child health with the goal of reducing maternal and infant mortality and morbidity.
Consistent with NYSPA’s founding purpose, our goal is to recognize an individual who demonstrates a high level of dedication to perinatal health issues and emulates the conviction of our founder, Dr. L. Stanley James, with this Award named in honor of Dr. James.
The L. Stanley James Award is awarded no more than once each calendar year and it need not be awarded annually. Recipient’s contributions should have contributed to improved maternal, infant or reproductive health health within the State of New York.
Any NYSPA member may nominate a candidate. The nomination must be received on or before May 1st each year.
